Usually, yes. Clicking normally means the read/write heads have failed. The drive needs a head replacement in a cleanroom, then the platters are imaged. Switch it off straight away, as every restart can scratch the surface further.

Often. Depending on the ransomware strain, we may be able to recover unencrypted copies, shadow copies or backup fragments. Isolate the affected machines from the network and call us before paying any ransom.
